Since the mid 1980’s California Giant has embarked on an aggressive varietal research program. This multi-million dollar commitment allows us to develop superior quality hybrids specifically suited to the various climates and soil conditions of our growing areas. Each year California Giant breeders test over 15,000 new berry varieties on ranches in our California growing locations, as well as several locations throughout Europe. The ability to select from this array of berry varieties provides us the opportunity to develop superior fruit for future California and worldwide production.

Our on-going breeding program continues to strive for the strongest, healthiest, and most desirable fruit in each of our growing districts. For our customers, this means continued improvements in the flavor and appearance of our strawberries.
