Food Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

Our family-owned operation was designed so that we control every aspect of berry production to ensure that you receive a year-round supply of superior quality strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.

Based in Watsonville, California, we place concern for the environment, food safety, quality, service, and our community at the core of our business.

We currently have an opening for a Food Safety Coordinator to join our team in Santa Maria, CA.

The successful candidate will work directly with the CGI Food Safety Department under the Director of Food Safety & Sustainability to fulfill Third Party Audit requirement for Facility & Growing Operations in the Santa Maria growing area, also assisting with Oxnard and Central Valley regions. Assist and manage food safety relations for the Southern California and Central Valley Region throughout the season.

The person we’re looking for will have:

  • Two-year degree in food science or related field (preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 5 years Food Safety experience within the Agricultural Industry
  • Knowledge of GFSI Auditing Schemes, FSMA, and HACCP
  • Preferred knowledge of Berry products (Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries and Raspberries)
  • Previous auditing and training experience.
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Computer literate.
  • Detail-oriented.
