WATSONVILLE, CA –June 16, 2026 – As the summer berry season hits its stride, California Giant Berry Farms is preparing for its annual transition to the Pacific Northwest (PNW) blueberry growing region. Harvesting in the PNW is right on track to kick off around mid-to-late June, paving the way for strong, promotable volumes spanning the entire month of July.
The upcoming Pacific Northwest harvest arrives at a time of peak consumer demand for fresh berries. With peak volumes aligning with July demand, the company suggests its retail partners secure ad placements and plan to expand display sets during the month’s highest traffic weeks.
“Our Pacific Northwest growing regions are shaping up beautifully, and we anticipate an outstanding crop just in time for the heart of summer,” said Tom Smith, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at California Giant Berry Farms.” The region officially kicks off in mid-to-late June, the July outlook is incredibly strong. We encourage retailers to secure July promotions early and maximize display space to capture strong consumer demand and drive category growth.”
According to The Packer’s Fresh Trends 2026, blueberries remain the most popular berry among surveyed consumers, making consistent summer supply a critical driver for produce department success.
Alongside the conventional and organic blueberry volumes, the GIANT™ jumbo blueberry program—featuring 20mm+ berries—continues to deliver strong retail performance, supporting premium price points and high-impact displays. With jumbo blueberries showing over 60% year-over-year growth (NIQ), the program offers retailers a compelling opportunity to drive incremental sales and differentiate in a competitive category.
With the Pacific Northwest season just weeks away, California Giant Berry Farms remains committed to delivering a continuous supply of high-quality berries while upholding its strict standards for quality, food safety, and sustainable growing practices.
