Quality: While some minor water spots remained on the fruit early this week, most of the significant damage was cleaned up over the weekend. Cold temperatures continued to slow fruit development, but plants maintained strong flower production and green fruit sets. Some shape issues, including creasing and button tips, were observed in the green fruit sets.
Volume: With us having already received over an inch of rain, we could have drastically reduced volume for the next 7 days.
Pack Counts: 9-15;
Quality: Fruit quality remains strong, with the main areas of focus being bruising and overripeness due to accelerated ripening. Fortunately, pest pressures remain minimal, as cooler temperatures have kept mites and thrips less active, and there are no significant signs of damage. Additionally, there has been no visible decay or negative effects from the recent rain last Monday. While the impact of the upcoming rain remains uncertain, forecasts predict less than 0.25 inches of precipitation, which should not pose a major concern in this region.
Volume: Production levels are expected to remain stable early next week before gradually tapering off toward the weekend and into the following week as we enter the later half of the production curve.
Pack Counts: 22-24;
Quality: Temperatures are getting hot and causing more and more growers to finish for the season or end daily production earlier in the day than expected.
Volume: We are in the final stages of the season for this region, and we expect this region’s season to end within the next week.
Pack Counts: 26-28.
Quality: Quality remains excellent, with great flavor, bloom and appearance, although we are seeing some issues with redberries, soft and leaking fruit, and shriveling.
Volume: Conventional volume in Mexico is up and in the current peak of production volume, which should last through mid April, and will then decrease steadily through May. Organic production has finished for the season, in which the gap in supply will last until August.
Region Update: Production has begun, with initial scratch pickings starting off great.
Quality: Organic quality is excellent.
Volume: We are in peak production, and peak production will last through April, with sizing in the 14mm-16mm range.

“I’ve never written to a producer of any food, but I am compelled to let you know that your strawberries are consistently the best we’ve ever had. We’ve eaten so many that I’m surprised we haven’t grown stems. Thank you for making us believe again that fruit can be grown, packaged, and shipped and remain delicious.”
