Santa Maria

Actualización de la región: The recent storm delivered between 3.5 and 4.75 inches of rain across the valley. Another system is expected to arrive tonight (Thursday), bringing an additional 0.2 to 0.5 inches of precipitation. Looking ahead at the 10-day forecast, daytime temperatures are projected to remain in the mid-60s, while nighttime lows will hover in the mid-40s. Although significant water is still present in the furrows, afternoon winds have helped accelerate drying, and conditions should improve steadily. The long-range forecast currently indicates clear skies.

The recent rainfall has caused significant and pervasive damage to the crop and fruit of un-hooped conventional and organic fields. If growers choose to resume harvesting, the first pass will likely involve a complete strip, and a second pass may also be necessary. Approximately 30% of green fruit and 100% of red fruit have been affected by decay, rain damage, and rot. Despite this, there is salvageable green fruit available if growers decide to proceed

Volumen: Production volumes remain uncertain after last week’s weather.

Pack Counts: Conventional: 20-26; Organic: 26-30.

Perú

Actualización de la región: In Peru, operations remain steady with one container of bulk organic and conventional varieties having been packed and shipped off for domestic arrival. Fruit quality continues to be strong with great flavor, bite, color, and sizing. Additional packing at BPH includes conventional pints and six-ounce packs this week, with flavor reported as very sweet despite slightly smaller fruit size.

México

Actualización de la región: In Mexico, production will fall short of this week’s estimate, finishing around 30%-50% due to lower ripening of fruit than anticipated. However, the outlook for next week is strong, with production expected to rebound to about double what we received this week. Supply will be limited this week, but next week will be right back on track.
