California Giant Berry Farms Celebrates National Philanthropy Day with Record-Breaking Employee Fundraising Efforts

Watsonville, CA – November 15, 2024 – In a testament to their commitment to giving back, California Giant Berry Farms announced today that employee fundraising efforts have reached new heights this year. The company’s philanthropic initiative, The California Giant Foundation, is distributing a record-breaking $60,000 to ten non-profit organizations.

The funds raised through various employee-led initiatives including the annual Skirt Steak Barbecue and office-wide fundraisers, demonstrate the company’s dedication to enriching both employee and beneficiary lives.

“We are incredibly proud of our employees’ generosity and passion for giving back,” said Joe Barsi, president of California Giant Berry Farms. “Their dedication to making a positive impact on our community is inspiring and reflects the values that our company was founded upon.”

The $60,000 was distributed among non-profit organizations that align with The California Giant Foundation’s pillars, including childhood obesity and nutrition, hunger and food insecurity, prevention and awareness, and community improvement. Beneficiaries include CASA of Monterey County, CASA of Santa Cruz County, CASA of Santa Barbara County, Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, Seneca Central Coast, Monarch Services, Partnership for Children, Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes, Pajaro Valley Shelter Services, and Teen Kitchen Project.

In addition to the Foundation’s year-end donations, California Giant staff continue to support its community through initiatives like Santa’s Workshop, which allows employees to sponsor families in need during the holiday season.

“California Giant Berry Farms has been an essential partner in supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Santa Cruz County and the Pajaro Valley. Beyond their generous financial contributions, California Giant has sponsored our Stronger Together event, rallied over 40 runners, and provided holiday gifts and decorations for our shelter and Watsonville office,” shared Janna Rivas, Director of Development at Monarch Services. “We are grateful for California Giant Berry Farms and their impactful leadership. Ending violence takes all of us, and your support makes a real difference in our community.”

By encouraging employee giving and fostering a culture of philanthropy, California Giant Berry Farms is demonstrating its commitment to making a positive impact both locally and globally.
