Berries deepen the colors and flavors from dark red wine, apple cider and spices in this Spiced Berry Holiday Sangria. Make this as an inviting cocktail for yourself or guests throughout the fall and winter season!

INGREDIENTS

Simple Syrup:

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 star anise
20 each whole allspice
4 cinnamon sticks

For the Sangria:

2 cups cabernet (or other dark red wine)
2 cups apple cider
4 cups mixed California Giant berries

DIRECTIONS

- - In a medium sauce pot, combine all ingredients for simple syrup and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Turn off heat and let steep 1 hour.
- - In a large pitcher, combine wine, apple cider, and mixed berries. Let steep 1 hour.
- - Strain simple syrup into wine mixture and stir to combine.
- - Serve chilled.
