If you are still looking for an easy and scrumptious dessert to serve tonight, try my co-worker Sherry’s thumbprint cookies, filled with your choice of berry preserve. With only 5 ingredients, they are fast to make and sure to please your guests!

Berry Thumbprint Cookies


  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 cups of flour
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup of sugar for rolling
  • Favorite berry preserve


      • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
      • Cream the sugar and butter. Then add flour and extracts. Combine.
      • Form dough into small, teaspoon sized balls. Roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet.
      • Use your thumb to indent the center. Spoon about ½ teaspoon of preserve into indentation.
      • Bake for 14-18 minutes. Enjoy!
